Christina Louca, Someone To Keep and Eye On
Classic and Chic
Christina Locua was born in Cyprus to refugee parents, her father a house painter, her mother seamstress. From a young age a fashionista and emerging designer could be seen, as she played with leftover pieces from her mother’s clients to create unique clothing that others scoffed at. Christina knew style and that you could create fashion that was both eccentric and yet wearable if you played with fabric, layers, colors, used feathers, zippers on fabric. She is inspired by the 1920’s and 1960’s, their class and elegance. She prides herself on her use of material that others would never think of using, such as telephone wires, different feathers, and layering of material in particular ways. One thing you will never see is the use of leather or fur, that’s for sure.
Though discouraged from dreaming big, Christina’s dream would not die and then the chance came to work with fashion designers Sophia Alexander and Sophia Nicalauo, gaining experience in PR as well. Her great moment of joy was exhibiting her own artistic, yet wearable pieces at her own fashion show in 2011. Her collection has been featured in Parikiaki, Style and The City Blog, Born Free Foundation website, Amor Magazine, online and showbiz, online website. This fashionista, artist and promising designer is set to take the world by storm with her innovative, yet wearable fashion, so be on the lookout for Christina Louca in the fashion world. Others have described her pieces as art on canvass, futuristic, asymmetrical and avante garde, with an architectural component, likely due to her love of New York City. She has a true fire in her heart and soul for art, and fashion, with Modonna as her idol from a very young age. Ms. Louca is an art and fashion force, a true artist way ahead of her time in life and in fashion. Ms. Louca also seeks to use her gifts to bring awareness of environmental issues and endangered species and fundraise for such causes.
