As someone who has made the mistake of taking on debt when she really was in no position to do so, first piece of advice, don’t do it. Only take on amount of debt you really can take on and truly manage without stress, and keep up monthly payments, not just minimum, but at least 20% above that.  Don’t ignore debt, don’t let it get out of hand where you then have to seek debt counseling, consolidation pay fees all that jazz.  Maturity means also financial maturity, crucial.  Also, we often don’t get the difference between spirited debate and argument.  Spirited debate means each of us can passionately present our point of view, agree to disagree, maybe we even give each other something to thing about and at the end of it we are still friends, still family.  Argument means I have to be right even if that means we end up not speaking, but I have to be right.  It really is an art, a skill that for many and for some, a gift at birth, being natural debaters.  It is a good skill to have, but also an important skill is knowing when not to debate at all, when to simply let it go, move on, let it go.  Hopefully as we do mature we figure it out, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Shalom and Amen
