A Dream and A Theme

Published by kappello on

This love, this elusive love, this happy dream,

I thought perhaps I would find it with you,

But I should have known it was only that, a dream.

There would be no rainbow after the rain,

Nor would there be a dozen roses waiting at the end of the day, just for me.

Smiles, and laughter, loving that is sweet and tender each and every day,

Oh well, one can hope and dream for that great, but at times elusive love.

Every so often I am taken back to yesteryear, to long ago,

As I find that place of memories tugging at me, that eternal place within.

A dream and a theme for all eternity,

But maybe much too strong, fantasy.

A dream and a theme for all eternity,

Best I awaken, no matter how sweet the dream might be,

A dream and fantasy for all eternity.

As lightning moves through the air,

I remember all that was, the good and the bad.

Yet I smile as I think of us, a cynical smile,

As I think of us and my foolish dreams that had no basis in truth,

Only in the fantasy of my heart, and soul.

Every so often I am taken back to yesteryear, to long ago,

As I find that place of memories tugging at me, that eternal place within.

A dream and a theme for all eternity,

But maybe much too strong, fantasy.

A dream and a theme for all eternity,

Best I awaken, no matter how sweet the dream might be.
