New Poem

Another Year Gone By

Another year gone by and I wonder,

Have I truly learned my lessons of all those years gone by.

Another year gone by and I wonder,

Have I truly understood the truth of what life taught me,

What it taught me in and through all the pain and tears,

Many of which I brought upon myself by going against sacred truths.

Another year gone by and I wonder,

Have I let go of what I need to let go of to be truly happy,

And have I truly gained the courage and strength,

To maintain those sacred boundaries, and lines,

So there will be no more regrets, no more wishes for do overs?

Another year gone by and I wonder,

“Have I fully forgiven myself for being human and having erred?”

Another year gone by and I wonder,

But then realize that faith and love conquer all fears,

And that with prayer and discipline of faith,

I can and will maintain those sacred boundaries,

I will not have again cause for regret, pain and tears.

With my Birthday tomorrow, I am doing a lot of contemplating and reflecting and out of that came this poem.

Born in New Jersey, August 1965, this Italian-American has always had a great interest in music, particularly the Oldies, Country and Ethnic music, including Irish. For over 10 years Ms. Appello passionately taught ESL to students of varying ages. Grounded if her faith and spirituality, Katherine endured a range of issues, including a great deal of pain, which was finally diagnosed to be associated with Fibromyalgia. The essence and the power of music, of words, allow Katherine to overcome these struggles each and every time. We are all blessed to have Katherine’s strength, wisdom, and words to write “Pray For Me Tonight’
