Now we come to the Challenger, who can also be a Maverick and the Peacemaker, Referee. The Challenger is a dominant force, when they walk in your can feel the confidence, power, dominance of their presence. They are pretty decisive, not a lot of swaying, self doubt, pretty decisive. They want to always protect themselves, their heart, be in full control of their life, even perhaps be in control of their emotions. To be self sufficient, show they can do do it on their own, forge their own path, do it their way is important to them enjoy taking on challenges themselves as well as giving others opportunities that challenge them to exceed themselves in some way. They can build, rebuild entire cities, very enterprising. Eights do not want to be controlled or to allow others to have power over them, whether the power is psychological, sexual, social, or financial and they want to be in charge, lead, not follow. On the other side of the coin of course you also have someone who can be quite willful and confrontational, even secretive. They can be very industrious, but lose emotional contact with many of the people in their lives because they get so caught up in what they are doing, building, rebuilding, leaving their mark. Those close to them may become more and more dissatisfied with this, which confuses. (“I don’t understand what my family is complaining about. I bust my hump to provide for them. Why are they disappointed with me?”. Helping them find that balance between leaving their mark and time for self, family, enjoying life is key if one is to have a healthy relationship with this personality type, and it is not always easy to do. Some people in this personality category including our current President, Indira Ghandi, Senator John McCain, Donald Trump, Queen Latifah, Courtney Love, Roseanne Barr
What about the Peacemaker? This person tends to be easy going, receptive and reassuring, they crave peace and harmony, no disruptive vibes please, no chaos, chaos is their enemy. They are warm and open minded individuals, have great skills as mediators. However, they hate change, will do anything to avoid conflict. They are likable steady, tolerant and optimistic, Zen in nature, go with the flow kind of thing, which In moderation, balance is great. However, they can be so busy keeping the peace at all cost, pleasing others to do so, trying to blend in to avoid any conflict, that their real feelings get lost, buried etc..so their own dreams etc.. are forgotten, to keep the peace and please others. It’s important to help this personality type be in touch with their own feelings etc. and get comfortable with conflict, give them tools to deal with conflict constructively if there is going to be a positive relationship.
