Quality or Quantity, Hmmm?
I had an interesting dream recently and the details are not important to share, but what came out of it for me that is the main thing. What did come out of it for me? It was a sort of culmination message on this journey and particularly as regards my vocation.
I signed up for bunch of meet up groups to hone my skills, gain new skills and to network. After this dream and a few other things that I have observed I realized I am not a fractured atlas, nor do I want to be. I am by God’s grace I hope not that at all and a very focused woman who is focused enough to create, to channel her energies into being very discriminate in choosing select venues through which she creates. Also, by God’s grace a woman who realizes that it is not about quantity of people she networks with, but quality of people, and that is why it is best to have a very well chosen, well thought out list of venues two or three that one works with and creates with, from. My running around the city with a bunch of meet up groups, and knowing a whole bunch of artists etc… is not God’s calling for me. Creating from scratch, learning as I create with others as they create, and being selective, and wise in my choices that is the calling, especially as a sign of maturity. What is my choice of venues for creating etc…that I hope to work with and focus on:
- My kaartist blog and bandcamp site
- The Church/Catholic community
- Poet’s House -plan to become a member
- Italian-American Writer’s Association
I also thought about my mom who is in her 90’s and how to best honor her and realized the best way to honor her is to keep friggin life as decluttered, streamlined focused on quality, not quantity as possible, even in my social life, just have a few key deep profound shared culture and faith centered relationships that make my world shine and I make theirs shine. If God would bless me with a life partner, also to be a partner in the arts, awesome. That is the best way I can honor her is to do what we used to teach our ESL students K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Sweetheart. I hope I can do just that, simple, sweet, decluttered, quality, not quanity.
